Trolltech Shares Experimental Projects with User Community

Trolltech Labs Now Online

Oslo, 26 February - 2007 - Trolltech today announced the launch of Trolltech Labs – a new online portal that presents Trolltech’s experimental development projects to the general user community for discussion and feedback. Trolltech Labs is now live and available at http://labs.trolltech.com/.

Trolltech Labs is an online portal for sharing experimental projects with Trolltech’s commercial users and the open source community. It provides a sneak peak into new and ongoing research and development projects underway at Trolltech, and more importantly, provides a forum for two-way discussion, feedback and sharing of ideas surrounding these projects. Trolltech Labs contains:

  • Experimental and R&D software and components
  • Proof of concept projects
  • Code snippets
  • Collected Trolltech developer blogs
  • Discussion forums

Trolltech Labs is not intended for commercial use, but acts as a breeding ground for new ideas. The code shared in Trolltech Labs may become part of the core Qt® or Qtopia® products, evolve into an add-on product released under Qt Solutions, grow into a new standalone product, or may not graduate from the Labs at all.

“Whether a project graduates or not will be determined in large part by the feedback gathered from the user community,” comments Naren Karattup, Developer Tools Product Director at Trolltech. “We’re excited about the great projects we’re working on, and want to share them with our users earlier in the process to hear what they think about them – this early feedback will allow us to provide exactly the products our users need.”

Trolltech Labs is now online at http://labs.trolltech.com/.
